Pumping fly-tipping message
Maidstone Borough Council is fuelling a campaign to combat fly-tipping.
During May, a petrol pump campaign will be making its way to six service stations throughout the borough to spread the message that CCTV and the council is watching fly-tippers like a hawk.
The stations displaying the messages will be - Tesco at Grove Green, Morrisons Petrol Station, The BP garage at Park Wood, Chatham Road BP petrol station, Boughton Service Station and Shay Service Station at Sutton Valence.
Fly-tipping causes huge environmental issues and considerable costs to both private landowners and councils to clear up.
Domestic Abuse
A one stop shop for victims of domestic abuse has been set up in Maidstone.
It takes place every Tuesday from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Maidstone Community Support Centre in Marsham Street. If you are suffering from domestic violence you can come in and get free confidential, impartial advice, information and support.
The one stop shop works closely with the Women’s Support Service, CASA Refuge, Kent Police, the council’s housing team and the Domestic Violence Forum. It is funded by the Safer Maidstone Partnership.
