Although Cheshire and Warrington is predominantly a rural area it benefits from unrivalled access to the country’s major land, air and sea routes.
As a result, travel times to London from the sub- region are from 90 minutes by train and three hours by road. The flight time to London’s main airports from Manchester is just 55 minutes.
Quick and easy travel throughout the region and the wider UK is possible thanks to convenient access to the national motorway network, in particular the M6 and M62. Meanwhile, fast travel times within the sub-region can be achieved via the M56 and M53 motorways.
In terms of travel by train, Crewe is the hub of the North West rail network and the West Coast Mainline Service is the main arterial link between England, Wales and Scotland. There are more than 40 trains from Crewe to London each day.
Opportunities for international travel and trade from Cheshire and Warrington are enhanced by the area’s proximity to two major airports - Manchester Airport (the UK’s busiest outside London) and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Businesses in the sub-region also have access to good quality maritime trade links via the Port of Liverpool and the Manchester Ship Canal.

“Our location just south of Ellesmere Port provides us with a great business platform. We have access to a large pool of talented labour, easy transport links and of course a fantastic quality of life being based in Cheshire. Also, as much of our business is now international, being based just 45 minutes from two international airports is a huge advantage.”
