Jubilee flag plan THE council is considering erecting a flagpole at Beechen Hall to mark the Queen’s Dia- mond Jubilee. The idea was proposed by Cllr Ivor Davies. It was considered that flying a flag was a good idea and cost etc would be investigated.


Allotments scheme BOXLEY Parish Council is con- sidering the possibility of pro- viding allotments for its parishioners. A briefing report has been prepared.

Volunteers help beat fly-tipping


VIGILANT walkers, volunteers and a helpful landowner are help- ing to keep PilgrimsWay and BoxleyWarren clear of fly-tipping. Recent work has been carried out to remove tyres and insulation material left by flytippers.Walkers, as well as regular volunteers, are quickly reporting fly-tipping and it is hoped that details of the vehicles involved will soon be found and reported to Maidstone Council for investigation. Anybody who witnesses flytipping incidents, orwho can provide registration numbers of vehicles, should contact MBC on 01622 602162.

Lottery money for play area


THE Big Lottery Grant Fund has given a grant of £9,750 to the council to pay for play area refurbishment at Penhurst Close, Grove Green. The scheme will include im- provements to the noticeboards and a new seat. Vice Chairman Pat Brooks


said: “The council’s small working group of councillors Davies, Harwood, Stead, Sulli- van and the clerk have been working very hard on this proj- ect and it is lovely that their work has been recognised. “It isn’t just about the grant money; it’s also the recognition that this is a community project that ticks all the boxes about in- volving people, and putting something back into the com- munity.”


Mystery hum to


be investigated THE parish council has re- ceived reports of an irritating humming/whining noise dis- turbing their days and nights. Maidstone Borough Council


has received a complaint, but needs help in tracking down the source. Any resident suffering from


the noise is asked to contact the parish office, who will send their details on to the investi- gating officer. Maidstone also needs information about the time of the disturbance and the direction of the noise. If you think you know where


the noise might be originating from, please notify the parish office.
