If Marian and Bob buy this house, they’ll be spoiled for choice – should they sit by the pool or in the garden, on the sunny terrace or the covered terrace, at the dining table or the breakfast bar, or in the living room? The well-presented interior is open-plan and all one level, so
although there are plenty of corners to escape to, the family areas are nice and cosy around the wood-burning stove in the lounge. The three double bedrooms all come with wardrobes. About 320 days of the year are sunny here, so the pool with
child-friendly steps will make the couple very popular. The garden area is planted with fruit trees shrubs and shady trees. Salinas has a medical centre, shops, restaurants and banks.
THEY LIKE: • We really like the arches outside the house. • Bob would love the extra large garage/workshop – perfect for fi xing things.
• It’s a nice big garden for working in it and growing things.
THEY DISLIKE: • Living areas seem to be oddly arranged. • Their furniture is like ours, and doesn’t look great in this style of house. So that’s some removal costs saved!
• This would really be stretching the budget.
THEY DISLIKE: • It doesn’t seem to have a great deal of character: the single storey and barred windows suggest a Mexican police station.
• We would need to see exactly what is in Hondon de las Frailes. • It may be a big reduction, but it hasn’t got the charm of some of the other properties, nor the pool or extra bedrooms. Worth a look though.

Slightly smaller than the previous property, this house is pretty on the outside and neat and tidy indoors. Marian and Bob could move in straight away. The house has recently been extended and renovated, with a new kitchen and covered terrace. The plot is spacious and could be made beautiful: installing a pool would certainly be a good move, but you could also create a tennis court or stabling for a horse. The countryside around here is beautiful; less arid than further south. The local village, Hondon de las Frailes, is at the other end of a valley from Hondon de las Nieves, so locals have dubbed it the Hondon Valley. There’s much foreign interest, being a short drive from the towns of Elche and Crevillent, and less than hour from Alicante.
THEY LIKE: • The size is about right. Garden is a bit more than we need: tennis court? • The fi xtures and fi ttings are really nice. Love the granite kitchen worktops!
