March 28-April 1 Spring Dance Concert
Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts Division of Dance showcases works by three award-winning choreogra- phers. Danny Buraczeski, Division of Dance faculty member and American jazz dance legend, has created notable works for companies nationwide. Adam Hougland, visiting artist-in-residence, is principal choreographer for the Louisville Ballet and resident choreographer for the Cincinnati Ballet whose acclaimed dances have been performed in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Meadows Prize winner Shen Wei, interna- tionally renowned choreographer, director, dancer, painter, designer and the artistic director of New York-based Shen Wei Dance Arts, will create a new work for SMU as part of his Meadows Prize residency. Plano Metropolitan Ballet hosts Plano Dance Festival. The performances offer an eclectic mixture of dance styles guaranteed to captivate audiences ranging from the casual dance patron to the discriminating arts connois- seur. Professional dancers and local dance companies will perform original choreography in dance forms including ballet, pointe, modern, and tap.
