G
reen Chair Dance Group will premier its newest work,
Tandem Biking and Other Dangerous Pastimes for Two, at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on February 3 and 4, 2012 at 7:30pm. The per- formance will be directed by Alex Torra (Pig Iron Theatre Company) and features a soundscore by composer Rosie Langabeer (Pig Iron Theatre Compa- ny, BalletX). In Tandem Biking and Oth- er Dangerous Pastimes for Two, Green Chair Dance Group opens its heart to questions of commitment over time, to the tension of intimacy, and to the joy of moving together. The company once again demonstrates its signature style of athletic, intimate dance-theater, which The Boston Globe called “poi- gnant, laugh-out-loud fun- ny, and completely engag- ing without being literal.” Bold and mischievous, the performers wrestle, share secrets, tick each other

off, and build monuments with their bodies. “This work brings our company into new terri- tory, where we’re layer- ing movement with verbal storytelling,” says Co-Ar- tistic Director Hannah de Keijzer. “We’ve always valued being people with relationships on stage, rather than simply bodies moving through space, but this is the first time we’re playing with how lan- guage can help accomplish that. We spent a year and half trying out new dance- making structures in the creation of this project, and we’re in love with the rich, textured world that has emerged.” Green Chair Dance Group, a collaborative dance-the- ater company led by Co- Artistic Directors Sarah Gladwin Camp, Hannah de Keijzer, and Gregory Holt, choreographs highly original movement with a focus on interpersonal re- lationships, intense physi- cality, and humor. “Witty, playful and fun, [Green Chair] makes experimen- tal dance very audience- friendly” (The Philadelphia
