n Friday 21 October twenty-seven Year 11 girls and four staff members departed Mayfield for a Geography field trip in Morocco. After a day of taking in the sights,
sounds, smells and tastes of Marrakech, the group headed for the High Atlas Mountains to collect river data for the GCSE Geography Controlled Assessment.
The weather was very variable in the mountains, ranging from mist and light rain one morning to full sun. Data collection in the rivers took up most of the group’s time, but there were opportunities to walk in the beautiful mountainside and meet some of the local Berber people.
Silver certificates went to: •Chloe Connor (Yr13) •Siu Yue (Katherine) Leung (Yr13) •Mona Chung (Yr12) •Gigi Chau (Yr12) •Elise La Rooy (Yr12) •Charlotte Wright (Yr12)
Bronze certificates went to: •Victoria Estlin (Yr12) •Hannah Berry (Yr12) •Alice Tighe (Yr12) •Winnie Yip (Yr12)
Congratulations to all the girls – we are immensely proud of them.

Days of Recollection
This term we have seen five year groups through their Day of Recollection at Ashburnham Place. The themes that were used ranged from discernment to the Beatitudes and each day gave the girls a balance of time spent alone and in small discussion groups. Days of Recollection give the girls a privileged space in which to leave behind the stresses and strains of daily life and focus on themselves and their relationships with God and others.

...the girls Confirmation Candidates News
On returning to Marrakech the girls soon became confident in haggling for bargains in the souks and enjoyed a calèche ride through the streets of the Medina.
’’
Everyone agreed that it was an unforgettable experience and some girls are already planning to return to Morocco in their gap year!

The fifteen girls who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation are well into their journey. On 16 October the girls made a commitment to the programme at a mass celebrated by Bishop Kieran Conry which was attended by a number of family and friends. In November, the Year 10 candidates spent a weekend at Ashburnham Place where they reflected upon Pope John Paul II’s ‘Call to Holiness’, and on the commitment they are making and the challenges they will meet. I invite you to pray with and for them in the coming months as they come closer to becoming full members of the Catholic Church.
