Parliamentary presence On the table, there is an idea for a Parliamentary event to engage with MSPs, and a proposal on crowd funding to pay for a proper parliamentary presence. We are pushing forward, and more news will follow.

Margo McDonald has announced her intention to introduce a new Bill, and we will shortly be seeing her and her advisers to make our input to its drafting. Next steps will be proposed after that. We are also getting invited to participate in various debates on PAS.

Other policy issues - including sectarianism, social inclusion and protection, international and our possible think tank role.


We have expressions of interest in these areas from members (for which, thank you). As yet, our approach needs some thinking. We probably need an overall statement and communication of the HSS’s position and values, based on


our Vision and Aims, with a very few focal points of activity. A think tank role could work alongside this. (For example - I think our Vision and Aims are consistent with the Occupy protests; we agree with them that a debate on fairness, values and cohesion is now necessary, don’t we?) This is all very consistent with The H Factor campaign, and the open competition on the brand proposition.
