Welcome

We are focused on results in this issue of Humanitie.

The energetic young people on the cover are members of Woodcraft Folk - a secular organisation where volunteers run projects and activities that encourage children and young people to use critical thinking and observe the wider world while having lots of fun. Woodcraft Folk looks like a good alternative to Cubs or Brownies and it seems from the people that attend, the good results are plain to see in the images in this magazine.

We have reports back from the H Factor campaign and the Conference, both of which produced positive results.

Our book review this issue looks at Sam Harris’ proposition that our values are a result of science.

Convenor Leslie Mitchell looks at what do we need to put into a society (or HSS) to really produce good results, should we be leading our lives more authentically?

Steve Chinn takes the main idea that Julian Baggini put over at the HSS conference and asks ‘What’s in a Word’, that word being Humanism, what does he come up with, what is Humanism? You can read the results of that question in this magazine!
