THE WEIRS TIMES & THE COCHECO TIMES, Thursday, December 29, 2011 ROKON from 1

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris hits the screen in August, there’ll be a Rokon motorcycle featured in many of the scenes. Not that Rokons are

Television ap- pearances such as the Land of the Condor’s epi- sode helped to popularize the machines and Marlin Perkin’s colorful descrip- tions of Jim Fowler’s rid- ing exploits in Kenya and Peru helped establish the Rokon’s go anywhere repu- tation. drive system with full time front and rear wheel drive allows for safe, stable con- trol in all types of terrain, while the Rokon’s automat- ic transmission lets drivers concentrate on the terrain, not shifting. “We’re shipping a lot to

Russia, where there’s a lot of rugged terrain. The King of Jordan buys them for his men and the mayor of Guatemala City rides a Rokon. We have a good following all over the world with lots of loyal custom- ers,’’ says Blais.

There are many unique

features which give the Rokon its surprising pull- ing power and stability. The motor drives a belt which feeds power through an automatic torque con- verter into a three-speed transmission beneath the seat and behind the motor. This acts as a transfer case, sending power to the rear wheel through a chain and then another chain. Each of the transfer cases has a mechanical disc brake that slows the wheels. A clutched coupling allows the front wheel to freewheel when the handlebars are See ROKON on 23
