WE REMINISCE.... What Happened To

CeCe Peniston? CeCe Peniston dropped her first single “Finally’ in 1991, beginning her mainstream career in the industry and a three-year reign in the U.S billboard charts. ‘Finally’ became one of the top selling dance singles, with over 3 million copies sold worldwide. CeCe then went on to score five major number one hits in the charts all in three years with ‘Weve Got a Love Thang’, ‘Keep on Walking’, ‘Inside That I Cried’ and ‘Crazy Love’.

Although CeCe has been away from the mainstream for longer than a hot minute, her music career is far from over. Between 2009 and 2011 CeCe produced her fourth studio album in addition to being involved in a series of projects. In February 2011 she signed a record contract with an independent record label West Swagg Music Group. So in short, watch this space!

T-PAIN REVOLVER

2011 RCA RECORDS STAR RATING: H H H

OK you may be wondering how far can this dude take this auto-tune concept, but we really can’t knock T-Pain’s hustle. This album shows Pain’s versatility with a

combination of pop infused tracks, club bangers, and slow jams. The track 5 O’clock features a surprising collaboration with Lily Allen (you can decide whether you think this one works or not) and additional tracks with Neyo, Pitbull, Lil Wayne, R-Kelly and Chris Brown to name a few. Although Pain can’t seem to get away from recording a strip club track, there are some nice sounding slow jams like ‘Sho-Time’, ‘Rock Bottom’ and ‘Centre Of The Stage’. All in all, this isn’t a bad second album by the king of auto-tune. Love him or hate him, it is what it is!

THE DREAMER. THE BELIEVER 2011 THINK COMMON MUSIC INC STAR RATING: H H H H

Flying the flag for conscious rap once more Common returns to the music scene with ‘The Dreamer, The Believer’ his

ninth album. Its predecessor ‘Universal Mind Control’ received a few raised eyebrows as to what direction Common was taking his sound but with this latest offering he has found his home. Teaming up with the producer of his first three albums ‘No ID’, the production is tight! Common attacks tracks with a new found love for Hip Hop. It’s about life and longevity with tracks such as ‘The Dreamer’ featuring author and poet Maya Angelo, ‘Ghetto Life’ with Nas and ‘The Believer’ with John Legend. Common has struck gold with this quality album that oozes staying power!

ROBIN THICKE LOVE AFTER WAR 2011 STAR TRACK. LLC STAR RATING: H H H H H

This soul star is back! Robin reinforces his sex appeal and puts a stamp on quality sounds with his fifth studio album.

‘Love After

War’ epitomises the heart felt emotion of his relationship with super hot actress and wife Paula Patton. The newly weds also star in his steamy video for the album’s title track ‘Love After War’. Thicke mixes up the tempo from slow to mid-tempo and his Latin roots add dimension to the track list. Fans will not be disappointed with killer tracks, ‘I’m an Animal’ and ‘The New Generation’. While ‘All Tied up’, ‘Mission” and ‘Love After War’ ooze sex appeal. There can be no mistake, this album will make a super steamy Xmas treat.

ANTHONY HAMILTON BACK TO LOVE 2011 RCA RECORDS STAR RATING: H H H H

It’s been some time since Anthony’s last album, ‘The Point Of It All’ in 2008. This album sees Hamilton experiment a little

bit with his sound, although he doesn’t travel too far from what he does best. Keri Hilson features on the only collaboration on this album ‘Never Let Go’ a power ballad over an electronic beat. Nice tones and arrangements can be found on tracks ‘Mad’ and ‘Baby Girl’ although nothing beats the sultry smoothness of ‘Fair in Love’ (available on the Deluxe Edition only). Anthony is one artist that represents quality grass roots soul!
