Engaged parents create engaged students

A unified approach

OUR message from Villiers is clear - to encourage our students to aim high and achieve.

We’re proud of all our students; and as well as rewarding achievement, we discourage behaviour patterns which have a disruptive effect on our students’ education. In addition to the work we are doing to intervene and support students, we would like to engage parents in helping us explore issues outside of school which may underpin disruptive behaviour. We can then jointly identify ways of tackling these with a unified home-school approach.

Join the Positive Parent Support group

We intend on harnessing the energy of already active parent voices within the Villiers High School Community, and invite you to be part of a Positive Parent Support group.

The aims •

• •

Be the parent voice in school on behalf of parents and the local community

Actively encourage other parents to take part in activities happening both in and outside of school to support their parenting skills

Help to increase parents’ knowledge and understanding of the role they play/ought to be playing to support their child’s education

The benefits of parents and school staff working together are immeasurable and we want to encourage parents to take an active role in their child’s educational life. Parents working alongside staff in school send a huge message to students.

Families schools and communities

Parents actively engaged in school life is good for families - by building bridges to strengthen parents’ understanding of school life. This fosters the spirit of positive parental engagement.

Parents actively engaged in school life is good for schools - by becoming stakeholders and partners in their children’s education which studies show is key to successful student attainment.

Parents actively engaged in school life is good for the community – Parents’ support helps families to network within the communities in which they live and work to create employment, advisory and social opportunities for families and to improve the quality of life for children in preparation for adulthood.
