Generous donations give charities much needed boost

Digging deep VILLIERS has always been active in charity fundraising, and this term has been no exception. Even during times of austerity students, staff and parents have dug deep into their pockets in order to help those less fortunate.

A bad hair day A stunning £1442.50 was the final

count for this year’s Children in Need appeal. The theme, in case no-one noticed was ‘bad hair day’!

East Africa Appeal success The boys who continue to put 100% effort into the Trust Youth Project raised an impressive £413.33 for the East Africa Appeal. Credit must go to Dhamen Khanna (Chair), Ramandeep Jassal, Roshen Verghese, Rajan Chander and Umar Ansari.

And finally well done to those who danced their way to the Guinness World Records with Free2Dance, they raised £332 in aid of charity LearnBurma.

Bleep test champions named!

Fit people achieve more A MEASURE of overall fitness and stamina can be gauged by doing the bleep test regularly. We actively encourage our students to focus on their fitness, health and wellbeing as this is the passport to a happy and long life.

Healthy people are happy people Research reveals that physically fit and healthy people achieve better in every way, in particular with academic study and active extracurricular activities. Fit and healthy people are also generally more content with themselves and more positive about their lives.

test champs’: Gursewak Jagdev, Nima Abdi Rashid, Muuaz Muhammed, Krzystofa Wudzinska, Dahir Abdi, Asha Moalim, Nafeesa Melepatt, Kirti Pandey, Abdihafid Osman, Tandeep Hunal.

Girls ‘kick’ for the borough! Goals fly in

AS the older girls ‘hang up their boots’ for a while, enthusiastic and talented Year 7 and 8 girls are shining through! This term we played Greenford High School in a couple of friendly matches which our Year 7 team dominated with goals flying in from Hani, Khushi, Jodie and Razan. The combined Year 7 and 8 teams took on Greenford’s Year 8’s but were sadly, narrowly beaten. Training is every Wednesday and is open to all girls regardless of age or ability. Special mentions go to Twinkle Patel for her ‘safe hands’ in goal and the ever enthusiastic Krysztofa Wudzinska!

Girls ran legs off In November Villiers was represented

by the Year 7’s plus including invincible Krysztofa at an Under 13’s tournament organised by Brentford Football Club. Schools from Ealing, Hounslow and Richmond were invited. The girls ran their legs off, but being a year younger than their competitors failed to qualify for the quarter finals. Once again special mentions must go to Razan and Krysztofa for their goals. A massive well done to all the girls, who we feel sure of victory next time! Claire Bannon - PE

Congratulations to this term’s ‘Bleep Other PE news
