• TOA Canada hired Gino Pileggi to cover the Ontario-East sales region (excluding the Ottawa Valley). The company has also expanded its sales force to include Peter MacLean, regional sales manager for the Atlantic Canada, and Louis Thomas, Quebec and the Ottawa Valley.
• Visonic has added Rachel St. John and Bob Carrino as its new North American sales managers. • Micro Key Solutions has promoted Victoria Ferro to president. Wayne Torrens, past president, will be taking on the role of chief executive officer.
• VideoIQ has appointed Ed Bednarcik president and chief executive officer. He will also join the company’s board of directors.
• Andrew Patterson has been promoted to director of international sales for IQInVision, while Natalia Hoffmann joins the company’s European team as regional sales manager, Eastern Europe.
• Rudy Setiwan has been promoted to the position of director of engineering for Brivo. • Rich Bravman has been named the new chief executive officer of Pivot3. • RFI Communications & Security Systems has appointed Dan Kilgore to the position of managing director of enterprise sales.
APPLICATIONS
Calgary Transit in Calgary, Alta., has installed Genetec’s Omnicast video surveillance system on its light rail transit (LRT) system. Omnicast was installed as a stand-alone IP video survei- llance system within the Security Center, Genetec’s unified security platform, and helps to ensure the safety of Calgary Transit’s 270,000 daily (weekday) LRT customers.
Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates has deployed a Mobotix megapixel, IP-based surveillance solution as part of a strategic ini- tiative to increase security in its North Carolina facility — the home base of its NASCAR racing team. In other news, Greenpoint Reformed Church, a 150-year old congregation in Brook- lyn, N.Y., has deployed Mobotix high-resolution network cameras.
Infinova’s fixed and dome cameras will be installed along a 37km stretch of Chongqing Metro Line 1, including 23 train stations, in China.
The Colorado Department of Transportation has in- stalled Senstar’sOmniTrax detection system to alerts driver in real time of wildlife on highways. The system detects large animals (e.g., deer, elk) cross-
ing over it, locates the position of the intrusion to within three feet and then activates nearby signs, in order to alert drivers approaching the high-risk seg- ment of the road in question.
The SightLogix outdoor video system, including thermal video analytic cameras, has been de- ployed to secure the World Trade Center perimeter in New York, N.Y.
Orlando Infiniti has installed megapixel cam- eras by Arecont Vision to help prevent after-hours theft of its luxury vehicles.
The suburb of Footscray in Melbourne, Australia’s Inner West is using Firetide’s wire- less mesh as part of its Public Safety Security Surveillance System. FireTide’s HotPort is the communications foundation for the IP video surveillance system, which is part of a larger initiative being driven by the Maribyrnong City Council, State Government, and Victoria Po- lice, to improve security and safety in the high pedestrian downtown traffic retail areas.
Carlile Transportation is utilizing IQInvision’s IQeye HD megapixel cameras at two of its
trucking terminal complexes. It has plans to install IQeye cameras at all 10 of its North American terminals.
IndigoVision’s end-to-end IP video surveillance systems are being used throughout the Chi- nese province of Yunnan for urban monitoring and traffic management. Used by 10 different police forces in cities and districts throughout the province, the systems are helping the au- thorities to better manage traffic and increase public safety through the use of help points.
Navarre Corp. has deployed Next Level Security Systems, NLSS Gateway to increase security in select distribution facilities in North America.
Hikvision is securing Frankfurt’s light-rail stations with its DS-2CD762MF-FB (H) 1.3MP Vandal Proof & Weather Proof Network Dome Camera.
Brivo’s Aparato ACS has recently been in- stalled at four Department of Homeland Security-managed Land Port of Entry (LPOE) facilities in Michigan.
