Festivals and special events draw crowds from far and wide. The Olympic Torch relay comes to Pickering, a thriving, historic market town on the morning of 18th June 2012. Join in local celebrations in the town to mark the Olympic Flame’s arrival.


Each town boasts its own special attraction. Head to Pickering to board the enchanting North Yorkshire Moors Railway or be transported back to the sights, sounds and even smells of World War II at Malton’s Eden Camp. The impressive ruins of a 12th Century castle keep watch over the popular town of Helmsley or visit Thirsk and explore the World of James Herriot, a museum dedicated to the life and times of the famous vet.
