A message from the Minister for Heritage and Tourism John Penrose MP.


I am very pleased to have been asked by the Tourism Association North Yorkshire to introduce their 2012 Accommodation and Attractions Guide to you.


The tourism industry brings many benefits to this country, not least as a powerful and important regional economic driver. And that is especially the case in North Yorkshire a recognised home of true hospitality in as picturesque part of England as can be found anywhere. Whether you’re after rugged coastlines or rolling moorland, historic buildings or bustling market towns, there will be something for you here.


So I am particularly happy to endorse the 2012 Guide that the Tourism Association North Yorkshire has produced. It shows a real and admirable commitment from an organisation that supports individual operators in the industry in North Yorkshire. These businesses, large and small, are the backbone of this business sector and it’s good to see them getting on the front foot to promote everything that’s great about this part of the country.


By working in partnership with others the Tourism Association North Yorkshire has produced this Guide and a complementary website VisitYorkshire.com. I commend them both to you in your search for the perfect UK holiday.
