Car Parking
There are ample car parking spaces and off-street car parks in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. In Scarborough town centre a pay and display scheme is in operation and beyond the chargeable areas, free disc parking is available for a limited period. Discs are obtainable from Tourist Information Centres, Council Offi ces, most shops and garages. Overnight visitors are advised to contact their accommodation provider for information regarding parking facilities and restrictions.
Park & Ride Scarborough offers a daily, continuous Park & Ride service throughout the year. Buses run between 7am–7pm every 12 minutes from Osgodby and Seamer Road to the Sea Front and Town Centre. Car
parking is free with a nominal charge for the bus service.
People With Disabilities The Disablement Action Scheme helps people with limited mobility to make the most of their holiday by providing advice on where to eat, where to go and wheelchair loan. Shopmobility
Shopmobility provides the hire of powered scooters and manual wheelchairs to people whose mobility is restricted by permanent or temporary disablement, age, accident or illness. The Shopmobility service allows people to make independent use of the facilities within Scarborough town centre. Subject to availability, we may also be able to provide you with a companion while you’re out and about. Anyone who has diffi culty in walking – young or old – can hire a mobility vehicle. You must be able to control the vehicle of your choice but if you require someone to push you around in a wheelchair, we may be able to provide one. For further information and bookings contact 01723 369910. Open Monday–Saturday 10am– 4pm, please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Northern Rail, Virgin and Transpennine Express run services to York and Leeds from most parts of the country, and from both stations there are regular connections to Scarborough and Filey. The Esk Valley route to Whitby operates from Middlesbrough, whilst the Wolds Coast Line runs from Hull to Filey and Scarborough. Information Line 0845 7484950.
By Bus
There are a number of bus operators providing services to and around the coastal towns and villages, including National Express, Arriva, East Yorkshire and Coastliner. For further information contact 01723 383637.
By Road
The main route to the Yorkshire Coast is the A64
A64, which can be easily accessed from the M1, A1, A19, M18 and M62.
By Air
The nearest airports are Leeds/Bradford (70 miles), Teesside (59 miles) and Humberside (56 miles), with Manchester and Newcastle only 127 and 100 miles away respectively.
By Sea
There is a daily ferry service from Rotterdam and Zeebrugge to Hull (one hour away by road). P&O North Sea Ferries 08716 646464.
