NEW GAP YEAR INTERN PROGRAMME

Students can now take

advantage of a new Intern Programme created by Gap Daemon, the online gap year specialists. In a move that challenges traditional office- based internships where photocopying, tea making and filing dominate the working day, Gap Daemon has developed a Travelling Intern Programme, known as TIP.

TIP will enable students to earn money as they travel the world. The 100-day programme consists of ten fun but educational challenges that will help students gain valuable work experience across a range of disciplines including sales, marketing, photography, journalism and new media.

While on TIP the interns will have their work published, promoted, and editorialised. The interns will have the benefit of training, management and advice from the Gap Daemon team, and should their work generate further income they will be able to earn from the benefit. The programme culminates in a

portfolio of the students’ work and a valuable set of references that can be used with future employees and recruiters. Plus while the students travel they can earn as they learn.

Gap Daemon is paying up to £100 for each of the 10 challenges completed successfully – a total of £1000 across 100 days - as well as being eligible for a package of other travel benefits.

James Capon, co-founder and CEO at Gap Daemon explains why they have taken the decision to launch this new programme. “We are always looking for ways to help people get the most out of their gap year experiences and people often ask whether gap years are really worth it. The resounding answer is yes, but we wanted to find a way to help quantify this. We have received 100s of requests for office- based internships at Gap Daemon, and this programme allows young

adults a working alternative to enjoy their travel, but at the same time bolster their CV with a useful qualification.”

Young adults who are planning to travel in the next six months are being encouraged to apply online at www.gapdaemon.com/TIP. With the cost of travel increasing and the need to stand out from the crowd ever more important, the TIP programme is expected to generate significant interest.

There are only 10 places available in this first round of the programme but Gap Daemon has plans to extend it over the coming year. It is currently in negotiation with several commercial partners and educational establishments to increase the scale of the operation. For more information on
