Come out and enjoy some hilarious and poignant spring theatre in Westchester. Two plays welcome the season with a tribute to baseball. Other performances include two improv comedy shows and two musical produc- tions aimed at children and families. Those looking for a dramatic interpretation of history might enjoy an upcoming program at the Warner Library in Tarrytown entitled “Freedom Summer,” which recounts a water- shed moment in the Civil Rights movement.

For the first weekend in May, Axial Theatre of Pleasantville will present a festival of script-in-hand stagings of new plays in development.


Nectar by Katherine Baldwin Eng, directed by Drama Desk award-winner Josh Hecht, explores the complex transi- tion of life without a child to life with one on Friday, May 6, at 8pm. A hilarious and magical examination of projection and obsession, the play revolves around the loves of a failing famous and enigmatic writer.


Searching for God in Suburbia, a collection of one-acts by Matt Hoverman (author of Broadway-bound Who You See Here directed by Christopher Ashley), directed by Princess Grace Directing Fellowship recipient Suzanne Agins, takes a sardonic look at the foibles and myths of life in the sub- urbs on Saturday, May 7, at 8pm. Agins recently directed the critically acclaimed premiere of Jailbait at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York.

Boston Marriage


The term Boston Marriage often refers to two women liv- ing together without the assistance of a man financially or otherwise. The play by David Mamet explores this type of relationship with Claire and Anna, two witty and wily late

While what happened during that meeting will forever remain unknown, what is known is that after the encounter, Emily Dickinson never attempted to publish her poetry again.
