Tour of ARTZ (Artists for Alzheimer’s®) Program at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum Friday, November 18 | 12:30 pm—4:30 pm Off-site Fee: $55
Be one of the few attendees to visit the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum and witness ARTZ, Artists for Alzheimer’s®, in action. This groundbreaking program was first developed through a collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, officially called “Meet Me at MoMA…and Make Memories.” Through research and direct observation, ARTZ has already established that art experiences can significantly reduce certain psycho-behavioral symptoms so often associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Attendees should meet at the front entrance of the Convention Center; buses depart at 12:30 pm for a 30-minute ride to the museum. Once there, attendees will have lunch, take an independent tour of the museum, and observe in the ARTZ museum program. Upon the conclusion of the visit, attendees will return to the Convention Center around 4:30 pm. Fee includes roundtrip motor coach transportation. Seating is limited to 20 people.
Tour of the Nation’s First Urban Model Green House®—The Leonard Florence Center for Living Friday, November 18 | 12:30 pm—4:30 pm Off-site Fee: $55
GSA attendees will have the rare opportunity to visit and tour The Leonard Florence Center for Living, which is located in the Boston suburb of Chelsea. This unique facility is the nation’s first urban model Green House® nursing home that combines the comforts of home with individualized skilled nursing care. The facility has specialized houses for residents with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and Multiple Sclerosis. The ALS house is unique since those with ALS are limited to eye movements their homes are designed with the latest in the state-of-the- art technology that allows them to live an independent life. Attendees should meet at the front entrance of the Convention Center; buses depart at 12:30 pm for a short ride to the facility. Once there, attendees will have lunch, tour the facility, and participate in a question and answer session with residents. Upon conclusion of the visit, attendees will return to the Convention Center around 4:30 pm. Fee includes roundtrip motor coach transportation. Seating is limited to 40 people.
