have to press for increased use of the services to avoid any fur- ther review going forward but if that becomes necessary our proposals will be reconsidered before any re-contracting.”


Shepway home THE proposed erection of a three-bedroom home at 5West- morland Road, Shepway, was given the go-ahead by Maid- stone Council.


School raises £650 during break STUDENTS and staff from Invicta Grammar School raised £650 in Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event. The school hall was set up to resemble a coffee shop so students


could socialise with friends while enjoying a hot drink and cake baked by year 7 and year 8 students. There were also four boxes of cakes left over that were taken to the Trinity Church to help support the homeless.

Pat Marshall said she had been told after being away that the parish council had decided to cancel. She said: “It’s a difficult situ- ation.” It is uncertain whether the council will cancel its fur- ther bookings at the hall be- tween December and April 2012.


Diggers raid TWOmen were arrested on sus- picion of handling stolen goods in Harrietsham. Police seized 11 items of plant machinery, including diggers and excavators used inthe build- ing trade. Officers searched the property inHogbarn Lane. Later, two men, aged 61 and 51, were arrested and questioned at Maid- stone Police Station.
