In 2009, God put His foot on the accelera- tor of my career and I literally went from show to show to show on Broadway.
This was a jaw-dropping feat that made many of my peers in the industry proclaim, “You MUST

Many people come to New
York City with immense dreams that they work untiringly to see manifested. Actors and actresses from across the nation come in search of Broadway stardom, working minimum wage jobs, 7 days a week. Being an actor is no easy lifestyle and is certainly not for the faint of heart. In fact, the entertainment industry is the

As a working actor, most of my days are free and I spend most of my nights on the stage performing in front of thousands of people. In my free time, I have been working on my first Contem- porary Christian album. Opportu- nities have been presented for me

One after the other, I was cast in some of Broadway’s greatest shows: the revival of RAGTIME, the critically acclaimed production of HAIR, Grammy Award-Winning rock band Green Days’ AMERI- CAN IDIOT, Whoopi Goldberg’s WHITE NOISE (Broadway bound), and now for the first time in my career, I’m originating the role of Judas in the acclaimed musical GODSPELL, which is the story of Jesus Christ set to music

closest thing I’ve come to know that gives true definition to the word “impossible”. Yet Jesus has granted me favor beyond imagina- tion and has catapulted me to the forefront of the Big Apple. The road has not been easy and now that I am here, it is not something that I work in my own strength to keep. I know that the greatest accomplishment in my life is serving and loving Jesus and that is all that matters to me. What would it profit me to gain this whole world and lose my soul? Without Him, all of my accom- plishments are just “stuff”; but
to go to the secular side of music but “for your glory Father, only for you glory.”
My current project,
“Leaving Heartache” is an album that talks about putting away the hurtful events of life and pressing on to the victorious life that we can have through the putting on of Jesus Christ.
In the summer of 2009, I was in the studio working on this project when I heard the voice of God say to me ‘I want you to write a song about what happened to Me.’ I thought about it for a while
and concluded that God could only be talking about one thing... Him crucified. As I began to write the song, the lyrics and melody came out of me like a river and I titled the song Crucified. Little did I know, the song would fall into the hands of Psalmist Micah Stampley years later, a friendship that I had made during my stint with The Lion King. This, once again, speaks to the methodical ways of the Savior. I called him one day and said, “Micah, I’ve got a song you should listen to that I think would be awesome for you.” He agreed to listen and the rest is
entertainment industry are hungry for truth, change and, in fact, for God. Some believe that Christians should not go into such a scandal- ous, self- serving industry; that we may end up allowing the world to dim the light of truth that is inside of us if we perform in the world’s movies or on its stages. My response is to remind Christians that Jesus associated with some of the greatest scum, filth and even lowest people of His time. We must remember that prostitutes, those who were demon possessed, homeless, beggars and even criminals followed Jesus, and were changed. And still, Jesus never fell to the devices that held many of them captive.
Jesus’ life proves that birds of a feather don’t always flock together and that you can still be the light of the world, a city on a hill, and the salt of the earth without ever losing your purpose, your call, your anointing, your sanctification or your love for Christ.
I’m a witness that if you truly want to show the glory of God in your life, where your heart and mind are totally surrendered to His will, God will open up places in the earth for you to shine. He will allow you to do things that boggle your mind, that shock the critics and even change the lives of people that think they have no hope.
There may be no business like show business but I know for myself that there is no God like our God. We must continue to ask God to open our eyes to see more than what we’ve seen and to give us the faith to believe that we can go into the darkest of places and shine the brightest...“For your glory Father, only for your glory.”
