Using Space, Light and Order to Create...

The Extraordinary

This beautifully designed home was the product of architect Robert Dame, Goodchild Builders Inc. and M L Slovack Design Inc.

The Memorial-area home featured on the cover of The Magazine and on pages 2-4 is a masterful combination of space, light and order.

Instructions to the home designers were twofold: Make it family friendly, but allow for large-scale entertaining. It needed to be durable, yet elegant. Customized, yet flexible. The end result: an exquisite home with several areas adaptable to a variety of events and gatherings, whether intimate or grand.

A media and bar area, as well as an extensive gallery across the back of the home, allow for multiple areas of club seating, yet the home is still suitable for children.

Follow the archways as they lead easily from one space to the next, delineating areas in an unobtrusive manner. The windows allow natural light to cascade into the

room and mirror the archways’ form. Rounded columns and the bend of a stairway echo the curved architectural detail throughout the home, giving it order and flow.

The consistent pattern, varying ceiling heights and a neutral ivory palette work to develop the space and order in the home. Interest and drama is enhanced by the contrasting finishes in the gilded resin doors, the custom cabinetry, paintings and custom furniture. For additional interest, textures and metallics were added into the upholstery and accessories. It is no surprise that this home received several American Society of Interior Designers awards.

Careful attention was paid to the lighting: General, task and accent lighting are artfully combined to enhance the beauty of the home. Abundant UV-protected doors and windows flood the home with natural daylight and provide magnificent views of the manicured grounds.
