RAYMOND BURLEY GETS THE FIRST EVER SANTOS MARTINEZ SIGNATURE MODEL

Classical and electro-classic guitar maker, Santos Martinez, have created their first ever signature model guitar for virtuoso player, Raymond Burkey. The new SM2000RB guitar is modelled on Raymond’s Martin Fleeson guitar that he recently retired after over twenty years by his side. As one of the world’s most respected classic performers, Raymond has worked with everyone from the Philharmonic Orchestra to Rick Wakeman and he currently performs as one quarter of 4 Parts Guitar. His new signature model costs £649 and features a solid spruce top, solid Indonesian rosewood back and sides, coming equipped with a luxury fitted case. Raymond confirmed his delight with his new guitar, adding ‘From new, the guitar had a surprising amount of volume and this will no doubt improve further the more the instrument is played.’ PM

Bass player with the Alice Cooper Group and co-writer of hard-rock anthem, ‘School’s Out’, Dennis Dunaway recently announced that he re-recorded his parts on the 70s classic after being given Rotosound bass strings. ‘“I had just finished recording a track in the studio when a roadie came in with some new strings called Rotosound. I strung up my bass and immediately decided to re-dub the bass part on the track. The song – well it was “School’s Out”.’ Fender are soon to announce details of the new Billion Dollar Bass, a detailed replica of Dunaway’s original 1970 Fender Jazz Bass, the very same that he used to record ‘School’s Out’ on.
