Dear Readers, T his has been the summer of traveling up and down the coast for ShowBiz. Still THE

MAGAZINE DEDICATED TO

HUNTERS AND

JUMPERS IN THE WEST

having the fun of being at all the southern California shows, we sent ShowBiz people to parts of the west, up and down the coast. Visiting some new shows but spending time at classic shows of our sport. All I can say is the show industry if alive and well! Shows seem to be doing fine in general and some are bursting at the seams. However, some are struggling a bit. Following the virus scare this spring, managers have survived and come back swinging. I must say there is a concern across the sport about the number of new shows cropping up and horses running from show to show just about every week. While entrepreneurs are the main stay of the American system, this does not seem to be in the best interest of the sport, in my personal opinion only. It makes one pause and wonder about horsemanship. Amateurs trying to get good mileage at that level, young professionals bringing along their first Grand prix horses, older professional with young hopeful stock, owners getting into the Grand prix sport for the first time with a bit of a limited budget, are all in a quandary. Where to get mileage but still have a shot at the prize. Sponsors for shows are starting to pop up again.

Even with the economy floating up and down, managers are beginning to find more financial support for the classes with prize money. Just another reminder, as a follow up to last issues sponsor article…PLEASE take the time to support the show sponsors when you spend your money. If you are looking for supplements, cars, credit card processing, hotels or real estate, take that extra moment to find the company that PAID sponsorship money to make the shows better. We need them…and they need us!! ShowBiz is really excited to expand its staff and coverage all the way past the Canadian border. Requests for the magazine have spurred fun changes in production, addition of customer service reps to help with business pages, dozens of boxes

being sent to shows and MOSTLY- partnerships with just about every show manager in the west…..and

talking with the others. THANK YOU for being a part of our success. Your ideas and input are always welcome!!!
