& DOWN THE WEST COAST A

S

s you travel up and down the Pacific Coast and visit shows, it is refreshing to see some

of the innovative, fun and interesting things happening. Shows are popping up all over the place and as they settle into a nitch of their own, each one has a distinct personality. Of course Menlo is the benchmark

for charity shows. Keeping track of its army of volunteers is what makes this show world renowned. The community considers it their own personal project!! Santa Barbara is the continuation of

show history for family fun and enjoy- ment. Lots of first time riders and their families have begun their careers at Earl Warren over the years and the tradition goes on, with exceptional vendors and prizes. Pebble Beach is almost a heritage show for our coast. The weather is always

balmy and foggy and a little cool. Fa- thers who don’t normally go to shows, or stay very long when they do, are in abundance just as the golf courses are. Sonoma is hitting it out of the park

with the excitement of awards and prizes like we have never seen. Thinking outside the box is their specialty! Woodside is continuing to im-

prove that public venue and the showing there. Langer’s efforts never stop in their plans to help Northern California showing, and there is much more to come. Leone Equestrians and their vari-

ous partners keep the north hap- pening with their variety of excep- tional shows, everything from World Cup qualifiers to Young Horse programs and Sport Horse auctions. Keep an eye out as the

HOWING UP

hunter-jumper show scene up there con- tinues on, ever evolving and growing. Sort of like an amoeba that is changing shapes as it grows to maturity with an identity of its own. Pretty exciting!!
