photography Master ‘MatchMaker’

SUBMISSIONS are now sought for MPA's new Wedding 'MatchMak- er' which teams up the skills of our members with the best photo- genic wedding venues in the world.

Through this, you help brides find their dream venue – support- ing your own favourite venues in the process. The wedding couple in turn will be sure of a photographer who knows the venue and how to get fantastic images from its setting and features. ‘MatchMaker’ aims to do just what the name says – a perfect match of wedding planning and choice of professional photographer, through an engaging, informative picture-rich website. There is a step-by-step guide on how to use and upload your im- ages to the new Wedding MatchMaker system at the MPA website. The Guide has been written for users with minimal technical knowl- edge. We encourage all qualified members who undertake wedding photography to participate.

It's free of charge and the goal is to create an ever-expanding directory of photographs taken by MPA photographers at wedding venues across the UK and the rest of the world. The MPA website already has very good visibility in Google and the addition of hundreds of wedding images and related data will guide more brides to our website and see your work. Your name and contact details will be clearly visible, together with a link to your own website. You may submit images from all future weddings you cover, plus you have the opportunity to enter a back catalogue of images taken over the past year if you like. While there is no set limit on the number of images you can submit, we suggest you keep it to less than six for any one wedding. Once we have enough images uploaded into the system, we'll formerly launch it to the general public. Please download the full instructions first: www.thempa.com/members/vs/instructions.txt then register to use the system: http://www.thempa.com/vs/wp-login

AND NOW for something completely different – SLATE printing. As a natural product, each piece of slate has its own unique

‘grain’. This texture really adds something to the picture, similar to the way a textured paper adds something to a watercolour painting. Acrylic Pictures have sourced the famous Porthmadoc Slate™, still

the world’s finest blue grey slate. This superb natural product lends itself beautifully to printing. Its surface texture creates a really tac- tile picture and is in direct contrast to smooth, glossy acrylic. Each piece of slate is pre-coated for easy cleaning and better ink adhe- sion.

The edge of the slate is hand cut with a rugged, riven finish. They can print on this rough edge or you can choose to keep your image within the ‘smooth’ area. Printing a full colour picture without a white base coat can result in a subtle and unusual effect (for the adventurous artists out there).

Full colour prints are achieved by printing white under the colour images. They can print your image ‘edge to edge’ or alternatively, a border can be left in unprinted slate to create a natural frame. Black and white images are achieved by printing only white onto the slate. All these new products, along with their established range, can be viewed on the updated website www.acrylicpictures.com
