Swing into action! East Lothian is the ancient home of golf and a golfer’s paradise.

You’ll find some of the world’s great links and parkland courses here, including Muirfield, host to The Open Championship in 2013, the 15th time since 1892 and Musselburgh Links, the oldest surviving golf course in the world.

With 22 courses close to 30 miles of stunning coastline, East Lothian offers a depth, variety and quality of golf courses to rival any. The A198, which runs for just over 20 miles through some of the world’s finest golfing linksland contains 15 courses alone, including Gullane, North Berwick and Luffness, together with newer gems such

as Craigielaw and Archerfield, linking with each other along the Firth of Forth.

But golf in East Lothian is not confined to the A198. The county possesses some fabulous courses close to the recently upgraded A1. Here you encounter the classic links laid out by Old Tom Morris at Dunbar, the short but testing course at Winterfield, two excellent James Braid designs at Musselburgh and Royal Musselburgh and the beautiful parkland courses at Haddington, Gifford and Castle Park.

Preston Mill, East Linton “I have played over 30 courses in Scotland and

England and virtually all of my favourites are in East Lothian. Muirfield comes to mind for most golfers that have visited the area,

but North Berwick, Gullane, and Dunbar are among the

world’s best and most enjoyable golf courses.” MG Orender, Former President of The PGA of America
