Larking Hill serves two markets not traditionally served by the same farm: the fl at track racing market and the sport/pleasure horse market. Tour this farm to see how race horses, show horses and foxhunters can all live and train on the same property. Considered a crown jewel of Anne Arundel County, Larking Hill Farm is one of the closest working horse farms to the seat of Maryland government. It is surrounded by farms that have converted from crops to horse farms with lush pastures, and is in a county where new permitting laws for barns, arenas and any sort of grading are more restrictive than anywhere else in Maryland. State and county elected offi cials will attend this event and learn how to promote rather than restrict development of horse farms. Larking Hill’s owner and manager, Christy Clagett, rehabilitates and trains race horses, shows jumpers, is Joint Master of Foxhounds of Marlborough Hunt Club, chairman of Marlborough Hunt Races, is an ex-amateur jockey, and is a newly elected member of the Maryland Horse Council Executive Committee. Her father, Fendall Clagget, and his brother Hal Clagget were both breeders, owners, and leaders of the Maryland Thoroughbred racing industry during some of its most prosperous years. We are honored to be invited to this historic farm.
