J: I know you recently had a show in New York. How did that work out for you? I was at a couple shows in NY.

PAGE 11SUMMER 2011 I did end up selling some work and

talked to a number of people from different magazines and the head curator for the Museum of Art and Design. So far so good. The work was well received. I had a show last winter in NY as well that was a better sale success. I have recently become financially successful enough to leave my day job so I’m starting my first month as full time artist as we speak.

J: Congratulations. It often takes that gigantic leap of faith. C: I’m going through the fear of not having a steady paycheck, but other than that I’m pretty excited to just make some art for a while and not have to do anything else.

J: That’s great Chris. What do you do for recreation? C: If you asked my wife, she’d say nothing. But I’m interested in a lot of things. I’m starting to dabble in some more robotics. I actually bought an old industrial robotic arm. In addition to that my house is 109 years old, so I do a lot of work on that. I brew my own beer, so I have a secret sliding bookshelf in my den where all my beer equipment is.

J: Well, it’s not gonna be so secret after this! C: That’s ok. I just basically involve myself in everything I do.

J: Chris, I’d like to thank you very much for taking the time to do this interview for us. I really like your work very much and so congratulations on the successful shows you’ve had and I can certainly see that things will get better and better for you.
