Executive Director's Message

David B. Walls, CAE, CMP American Express coined the slogan “Membership Has

Its Benefits,” but you don’t have to have an American Express card to use the many MAJ membership benefits. Listed below are the most popular membership benefits, as well as those that are our best kept secrets. Should you have any questions about your level of membership or how to access your benefits, please call the office at (410) 872-0990 or email us at info@marylandassociationforjustice.com.

Professional Development

Learning is a lifelong process. MAJ stands ready to assist its members through the efforts of the Sections and Committees, publications, education and networking.

Case Evaluation Tap into the great experiences of your peers and have them review and evaluate your challenging cases. Tere are two formal evaluation sessions, one in the spring and one in the fall. However, should you have a case that you would like to have reviewed outside of these times, special arrangements can be made.

CLE Seminars Educational programs in the form of live presentations, webinars, and “lunch and learns” are held year round. A calendar of events is created in the summer and registrations begin approximately eight weeks before each event. Although Maryland is not a mandatory CLE state, we are an approved CLE provider for Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Committees Committees guide and shape the Association’s activities led by volunteers who commit time as their schedules permit. Joining a committee is a great way to connect with the organization and execute the MAJ mission.

Career Center Looking to move to a more challenging position or needing to find a new associate? Te MAJ Career Center features

eligible candidates and job openings to both employers and employees. Tis Center is very popular with New Admittees, and is a great way to find new talent.

List Servers MAJ hosts nine online forums that provide you with the immediate access to the knowledge, experience, and resources of hundreds of members.

Mentor/Mentee Tis program teams Mentees with experienced practitioners, Mentors, who can offer advice and guidance on establishing and sustaining a successful law practice.

Networking

Members take pride in their willingness to share their knowledge and skills with others. Connections can be made at statewide meetings, CLE programs, seminars and on-line.

Publications Te MAJ quarterly journal, Trial Reporter, and daily E-clips provide practical legal articles, appellate updates and important organization information.

Sections

Eight sections provide members with practice-related networking, education and discussions. Each section has its own list server.
