Day, when you can meet with your elected officials to express in-person your views on issues of justice. I will announce the date for Justice Day as soon as it is placed on the Protocol Calendar. I suspect it will be early in the session. Lastly, I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season.


Never lose perspective as to the importance of family. My dad always reminded me that we can make more money but we cannot make more time. Please enjoy this holiday season. I look forward to seeing all of you at the various bar association Holiday gatherings. 


Biography Robert J. Zarbin (Te Jaklitsch Law Group) received his


JD from Loyola University School of Law. He is President of MAJ and is a member of the President's Club as an Eagle. Mr. Zarbin is the past Chair of MAJ's Workers' Compensation Section and Legislative Committee. He is a member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Prince George's County Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Mr. Zarbin has been a guest lecturer at both MAJ and AAJ conferences. His practice concentrates in personal injury, product liability, and workers' compensation.

SPECIAL NOTICE: CMS ALERT Richard P. Neuworth


On November 9, 2010, the Center for Medicare and


Medicaid Services – Office of Financial Management/ Financial Services Group issued an Alert concerning possible reporting requirements under the Medicare Secondary Payer Mandatory Reporting Provisions in Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007. Specifically, the agency delayed for one year from the first calendar quarter of 2011 until the first calendar quarter of 2012 all initial claim reports from insurers and self-insurers concerning any type of bodily injury claims. Additionally, insurers and self-insurers are exempt from any reporting requirements for claims from 0 to $5,000 prior to January 1, 2013. Significantly, the agency has not issued any regulations


to date that require set asides for any type of bodily injury claims. As a result, the only requirement for personal injury settlement of bodily injury claims is to report settlements or payments of verdicts or judgments in excess of $5,000. 
