It’s official: Michelle is ‘outstanding’
A DETLING childminder has received a glowing report from Ofsted. Mum-of-four Michelle Archer, who looks after children at her home in St Martins Close, was rated outstanding for all aspects of her care. Arecent Ofsted report says Michelle and her as- sistant Pamela Hughes have an excellent knowl- edge and understanding of each child’s unique needs, meaning they effectively encourage chil- dren’s development and well-being. The youngsters explore and learn by using in-
teresting resources in a secure and safe environ- ment. The reports says that the partnership with par-
ents and outside agencies is a key strength and contributes significantly to ensuring that the needs of all children are met very well. Registered six years ago, Michelle uses the
whole ground floor of her home for childminding and has a fully enclosed gardenwith outdoor toys including a playhouse and trampolines. She also provides a pick-up service to local schools.

said: "I have nothing but praise for Archie. I rate him very highly." He added: "I have always kept
fit. I did judo and boxing as a schoolboy and in the Army. “I have done yoga for a long
time. I think karate helped me cope with some of my problems and to get a good level of fitness. Don, who taught welding until
he was 72, said: "I think it would help a lot of people and I would be prepared to go to old folks' homes to teach them fitness and movement, as gentle or ener- getic as they wanted or are ca- pable of. It would get them up and moving." Grandson Tom, a pupil at Oak-
wood Park Grammar School, is, like Don, a 1st dan black belt. Tom's father, Graham, is a 2nd dan – making it a rare three-gen- eration achievement.
