Kids Get Creative at Alliance Summer Camps T

his month, the Lee County Alliance for the Arts kicks off its 23rd year of Summer Arts Camp (grades 1-6) and introduces two new camps, including Mini Michelangelos Camp (ages 4-5) and Fine Arts Camp (grades 7-12). The camps give students the opportunity to create, explore and discover the visual and performing arts in a fun, interactive environment, instructed by ac- complished fine artists and certified instructors. Summer Arts Camp has recently been named the number one Youth Program for the second year in Parent & Child Magazine’s People Choice Awards. Running eight weeks, June 13 through August 5, the program focuses on visual and performing arts activities where children create, construct, rehearse and prepare for a weekly art exhibit and finale performance for family and friends.

Mini Michelangelos Camp runs four weeks from July 11 through August 5, and children will participate in painting, sculpture, collage and mixed media projects. Fine Arts Camp, running June 13 through July 8, features instruction from professional artists, painters, sculptors, architects and mixed media specialists.

Spaces are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Brochures with dates, weekly themes, prices and a registration form can be downloaded at ArtInLee.org. To request a mailed brochure, call 239-939-2787.
