Cadett 7 Corner By Judy Wardrope

point of view
t can easily be said that Cadett 7 has been a major asset in Ashlee Bond’s rise on the international scene. He does his job with relative ease because he is built to be an efficient jumper. The jumper that can consistently go clear in
grand prix classes will possess the strength that comes with excellent LS placement. When jumping, that particular area functions as a fulcrum that enables the lift of the forehand required in clearing the jumps found at the top level of the sport— both high and wide. Cadett 7 exhibits this trait as determined by a line drawn from the top of one hip to the top of the other hip bisecting the lumbosacral
gap located just in front of the high point of hip. In fact, if the LS is considerably rearward of
ideal, the horse usually compensates by ridging the muscles along the spine in an attempt to protect the poor coupling and often becomes tender to the touch near the LS. Such construction can easily lead to the development of a hunter’s or jumper’s bump. Two of the major differences in jumper
construction—when compared to the dressage horse—are the placement of the stifle and the relationship between the length of the ilium side and the femur side of the rear triangle. The grand prix jumper’s stifle being well below
