In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).

We often think of this verse only in context with the coming of Yeshua (Jesus). However, it also speaks of the very foundation of all things—it parallels the creation recorded in Genesis 1—and the power of God’s spoken Word unto creation.
Our theme this month, Hebrew: Rebirth of an Ancient Language, examines the prophetic language first spoken from Heaven, by which mankind came to know his Creator. The sages of Israel believed that the twenty-two characters of the Hebrew alphabet are the raw materials with which God constructed the universe. Surely utilizing this unique language, He formed His People, revealed Himself, His nature, and His will, and communicated His redemptive plan for mankind. Hebrew is often called the language of the Kingdom, and through the prophet Zephaniah, it is also called a “pure” language, one that would be a sign of the Last Days’ restoration of Israel: For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, that they all may call on the name of the LORD, to serve Him with one accord (Zephaniah 3:9 NKJV).
John went on to reveal Yeshua as the living Word of God: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt
among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14 KJV). Although we call Him Jesus today, Joseph was instructed by the angel of the Lord to name Him Yeshua, for He would save His People from their sins. (See Matthew 1:21.) The name Yeshua in Hebrew literally means “God is salvation.” In Hebrew, His name prophetically announces His character and mission. Embodied in His Hebrew name is also the sacred name of God.
Yeshua came to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel, but through His atoning death and resurrection, salvation came to the nations—to make Israel envious (Romans 11:11). This is the mandate He left with us, and why Jewish Voice exists. This is why we stretch ourselves beyond our human capabilities to take His Word to the far reaches of the globe . . . to bring everlasting life to the remnant of Israel through their Messiah Yeshua, the Light of the World. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind (John 1:4 NIV, © 2011).
Thank you for faithfully standing with us with your prayers and financial support. God bless you for your partnership in the Gospel, to the Jew first and also to the Nations!
