in Torino. “I treat every competition like my training, focusing technically on what I need to do to win. I’m a process oriented person.”

Kristi Richards of Summerland is hoping 2010 will mark her second Winter Olympics. She fi nished 7th in Torino in 2006 in freestyle skiing moguls and is adding a back fl ip with a full twist this year that has the highest degree of diffi culty for women in hopes of going for gold.

“Torino was an amazing experience but

these games will be so much bigger,” stated Richards. “These are our home games, and it will be like hosting your family and friends at your house for dinner, lots of expectations and plenty of excitement!”

Kelowna’s Kelly Scott echoes that view- point. “I have won a World Junior and World Women’s Curling Championship, but never enjoyed the Olympic experience. For the past eight years we have been motivated to represent Canada at these Games. What an honour it will be if we can pull it off!”

With the eyes of the world on our province, Tourism Kelowna is taking advantage to showcase the diversity of activities, amenities and destinations in the Okanagan that will draw people here once the Games end. “This is a tremen- dous opportunity to market the vineyards, orchards and attractions that are unique to the Okanagan,” said Nancy Cameron, Tourism Kelowna Manager. “Through the Olympic journalists and media we hope to generate intrigue and demand for our area so that people worldwide will put us on their travel agenda in future.”
