Broker initiatives
Te successful brokers within the MT5 arena will be the institutions who adopt and support the multi-asset class features, states Goddard. “We believe that clients will trend to MT5 for greater functionality and speed of trade execution. Various applications are freely available to aid in the transition from MT4 to MT5. “However this being said, MT4 will not be forgotten,” adds Goddard. “On one hand the MetaTrader 5

terminal certainly demonstrates a revolution in the world of automated trading, by opening up so many new horizons for traders. But on the other hand, the advantage of the MetaTrader 4 terminal is the huge database of accumulated codes and articles, which can be found on various sites through the internet.”
“FXDD has worked closely with MetaQuotes since the early days of MT3,” says Dilkes, “Our early adoption of the MT3 and MT4 platforms has given us years of exposure and experience to the intricacies of MetaQuotes software that will be used in the seamless implementation and integration of MT5.”
“Alpari already offers MT5 as a demo account for all traders, and outlines comprehensive information on the differences between MT4 and MT5 on our websites.” says Tovmasyan, “We will continue to expand on this education by building the Alpari Academy section of our website to offer user manuals, video tutorials, and live webinars. We also plan to continue to offer the latest build of MT4 as a continuous platform choice for all traders.”
Challenges
Muñoz warns that migrating to MT5 is not going to be plain sailing for everyone. “Several challenges arise regarding migrating from MT4 to MT5. First of all, most traders will have to reprogramme their indicators and EAs; though there’s a MQL4 converter out there, most of the scripts will have to be rewritten from scratch. So brokers will have to put their efforts into webinars and seminars about the new programming language, and also provide customer support to help traders to convert their indicators and EAs to the new language at a small cost or even free.

“Also, while introducing the new MT5 features will help clients see what its main advantages are and will convince them to switch to the new platform, those brokers introducing MT5 should consider the cost of maintaining both platforms over one to two years, because the transfer process for existing clients will take some time. Of course there’s no doubt that the new features will be attractive enough for traders to make the change,” summarises Muñoz.
