Important lots include: 24, an unrecorded first edition of William Blake’s Poetical Sketches [1783] annotated in manuscript by Blake (£60,000 - 80,000); 75, a copy of David Roberts’ The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt & Nubia, one of very few hand-coloured copies where the plates are not mounted on card, 1842-1849 (£70,000 - 90,000) and lot 15, Captain Richard Barrons’ Views in India, Chiefly among the Neelgherry Hills, Taken during a Short Residence in Them in 1835, a suite of 6 finely hand-coloured aquatint views (£9,000 - 12,000).


The European ceramics and glass sale in Edinburgh includes a single owner collection of Royal Worcester from a private Scottish source. Other Royal Worcester pieces in the sale include a ‘crown’ pot pourri vase painted by Freeman, estimate £2,000 - 3,000 and a vase by Harry Davis, estimate £500 - 700. Further sale highlights include a De Morgan vase by Halsey Ricardo, a pair of 19th century Vienna porcelain plaques and a Jacobite glass circa 1745.
