Pupils’
portraits of the Queen GCSE art students at Looe
Community School have been working on portraits of the Queen, which will be entered into a national competition.
The year 10 pupils, along with everyone else entering the competition, will have their image included on a digital photo frame that is to be sent to the Queen, to celebrate her 85th birthday.
The students have painted two different portraits, one influenced by an artist of their choice and one with a pop art influence which has been made up out of words which describe the Queen.
The
competition winners from different age categories will receive a cash prize.
Plaque unveiled
A plaque has been unveiled in memory of Wren Toms, a popular Looe gig rower (pictured right).
His son Robbie said: ‘He was very well known here in Looe because he went out in all weathers. He had no fear because he thought he had a guardian angel above him.’
Pictured above at the unveiling of the engraved plaque at Looe Sailing Club are: Michael Barker, Robbie, sister Juliet Nelmes and daughter Sarah.
