Well, I am just back from the NAMM Show, which was held in Anaheim California in the middle of January. Besides providing a couple of days welcome break from our relentless winter, the show also offered a glimpse of some terrific new gear which will be making its way to our shores during the coming few months. There was way too much cool stuff to list here but our pen was busy making a huge wish list that included all the hot new recording software, amps, guitars, the awesome new Roland GR-55 Guitar Synth...we even
checked out a massive custom DW drum kit belonging to Neil Peart from Rush but unfortunately we couldn’t squeeze it into our suitcase for the trip home! We made it back in time to make our press deadline for this issue and boy, have we got a great magazine for you this month. Our cover star Rob Zombie talks to Brad Barrett about how he got his passion for music back after taking a break to write and direct horror movies, Phil Campbell from Motörhead talks about life in the fast lane with Lemmy and we also introduce a remarkable young American songstress and guitar player called Marnie Stern. Don’t forget to check out our latest online video reviews too; you’ll find new videos of the three amazing Tanglewood parlour guitars featured in this issue alongside our online reviews of the Charvel Pro mod range. As for this issue of Playmusic, we’re straight out of the blocks with reviews of some of the hottest new products for 2011; we’ve got the new Boss PS-6 Harmonist and ST-2 Power Stack pedals plus we also check out the new Waldorf PPG 3 soft synth that harks back to the early 80s digital revolution.
