implemented its brand-new, real-time parking enforcement system in New Canaan, CT. The town’s parking enforcement officers can now use CDI’s wireless handhelds to patrol the down- town area and the MTA’s Metro-North railroad commuter parking lots. Once a parking ticket is issued, the data upload to the CDI system in real-time. By tak- ing advantage of the town-wideWi-Fi network, the handhelds can also down- load themost up-to-date repeat-offender lists for identification of boot- or tow- eligible vehicles in the field. Aura was to be installed in Philadelphia in early
October.Metric Inc., in a joint project with the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA), began a six-phase on- street installation program in July 2009. The program included replacing the aging single-space meters, changing to new signage and installing the solar- powered Auras – all at the same time. Said Metric Managing Director Dave Witts: “Motorists have taken to the new solar-powered machines very well, and (the Auras) have also held up well
against a small amount of vandalism. To date, the new Auras have issued more than 6 million pay-and-display tickets in Philadelphia.” The California State University,
East Bay campus in Hayward received construction bids for Parking Structure I on Aug. 18. The low bid for the project was $15.9 million, or about $14,300 per stall. Campus officials retained Interna- tional Parking Design as the prime architect and engineer to prepare the bid documents for the six-level, 1,113-space structure, which includes a 1,721- square-foot stand-alone parking man- agement office and a 127-foot-long pedestrian bridge. AMAG Technology, a security
management and digital video solution provider, has hired Mark Conger as a Regional Sales Manager. He will pro- vide sales support to the company’s Northwest territory. Conger reports to Mike Taylor, VP of North American Sales. “His vast experience of working on the integrator side of the business makes him a great asset to the sales team,”Taylor said.
