Mutha Nature by Celtic Cross
excellent compositions of their own with a few unlikely cover for a laugh.
With that as my starting point I aim to try and involve as many other performers as I can in a kind of loose collective to form a pool of talent with which we can create an interesting chain of events which hopefully will promote growth for all and at least we’ll all be out having a bloody good do. I also like to make space at these events for plenty of open mic time so that musicians from the wealth of folk clubs we have in the area can bring their instruments and get in on the action and thus attempt to make them music festivals for musicians.
Such was the case at the last event, Moorcock Folk Rock where we had a multitude of great bands and some wonderful talent up for the open mic, and the whole event went off without incident because of the fine class of people we attracted to the event, and I’ll thank you again now.
We have 2 more events planned for early 2011. On Feb 12th and 13th there will be a Winter warm up event at The Sportsmans Arms, Kebs Road, Todmorden OL14 8SB featuring bands on the Saturday with open Mic with the Swampnobs on the Sunday. Camping will be available.
Then on 15th - 17th of April we have The Spring Spirit Festival with bands all weekend and Open Mic sessions on Saturday and Sunday Afternoons. (Venue to be confirmed please visit website for updates) Hopefully this one will be even bigger and better than the 1st one and with better weather to make camping more fun. There are also a couple of other events in the pipeline including a possible return to Oakhill Park for 2011 as well as the usual week in week out gigs by my bands, so keep an eye on the site and I’ll post more details as they become solid.
I am always on the lookout for good bands wil- ling to play for expenses or people who would like to help out with doors, security and other boring logistics necessary to make these events work, so if you are interested in some capacity get in touch through the website or the Panjenix Facebook page.
