heavy metal, funky, new age, country. 6 months after the 1st recording session I booked the studio for another month and recorded another load of musicians.
One of the highlights of the project has to be Max Splodge‘s trombone solo on the song ‚667 The Neighbour Of The Beast‘, it‘s hilarious, he‘d never played a trombone before but insisted a trombo- ne solo would make the track. Max also played trombone on the title track for the album Sex Drugs And HIV, written by Darryl Barth (UK Subs / Dogs D‘amour / Crybabys) and Honest John Plain (The Boys / Crybabys). I didn‘t want to write the title track for the project so I asked Darryl, also colaberated with musicians on some of the songs for the project, writing songs with; Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy / Motorhead), Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Dick Lukas (Citizen Fish / Subhumans), Paul Fennic (Mete- ors), Micky Fits (The Business), Fran- kie Stubbs (Leatherface), Roly Wynne (Ozric Tentacles), Poly Styrene (X Ray Spex), Darren White (The Blood De- vine), Chris Bowsher (RDF), Jennie Mathis (The Belle Stars), Judge Dread, Angie Bowie, Afrika Bambata.
The entire project has been filmed, Mat Sunderland filmed the first half of the project and Dublin Joe & my son Alex filmed the 2nd half. Mat will be making a rockumentry about the project and in- cluded in the limited Sex Drugs & HIV box sets will be 3 memory sticks with 25 1 hour documentrys which show the musicians at work, how the album was made and shows different musicians meeting each other & telling some great storys. I‘ve been back & forth to Ger- many for the past 10 years, trawling through the hours of footage (over 150 hours) with my good friend Manni Ku- sters, who for me was like a Dave Good- man of video editing.
Manni taught
me how to edit, use the machines, what to look for, what was no good etc and taught me how to use the computer to edit.
Through 15 years of making the album I went through the transfere period where everything that had been recorded on analogue had to be transfered to digital, not only for each instrument on each

It‘s been a great project to work on and I cant wait to get it out there & show the world, all the musicians donated their time & talents for free and with their support for the charitys, the HIV album looks set to go into the Guiness Book Of Records!

song but also all the hours of video tape had to be transfered.
When Dave Goodman died in 2005 I looked for a studio to finish off the project and discovered Panther Studios which was owned by Dick Crippen, ex bass player with Tenpole Tudor and King Kurt. Dick had played bass on one of the tracks for the HIV project some 10 years before and ironicly was the same track that Dave Good- man had played on (Cigarette In The Ashtray). Dick helped me finish off the jigsaw and some new tracks were recorded at Panther to complete the project of 40 songs. Dick is great to work with, he knows how I work which is sometimes relentless but understands how important it is to me to get things right. I finished the first album in January 2010 and took it to Abbey Road to be mastered, it was a a mile stone & a great feeling.
I‘m just about to finish the 2nd album which will again be mastered at Abbey Road. I intend to launch the project on December 1st (World AIDS Day) preview the ro- ckumentry and play key shows with the HIV project band; ROCK ‚n‘ ROLL GYP- SIES throughout 2011 to promote the album. I intend to raise awareness for the cha- ritys; Rape Crisis, Release (drugs) & Terrence Higgins Trust (HIV+AIDS). I will also be donating to Cancer Research as I had a recent fight with cancer myself and a few musicians on the project have since died of cancer; Kelly Johnson (Girlschool), Paul Samson (Samson), Jez Bird (The Lambrettas), Paul Fox (The Ruts)
