Big Changes Ahead for North Texas Kids!

I will be honest, over the past year I have struggled to keep this magazine going. I struggled with whether to continue with North Texas Kids, not for business reasons but personal ones. My own kids are getting older and busier, my life was getting older and busier, too. It wasn't fun anymore and I was having more fun doing other things like teaching and coaching. My husband and I worked all year long to find our place together again, to rekindle our relationship, restructure our lives and to get fit. Maybe you read the articles and followed our progress this year. We successfully completed the Dallas White Rock Half Marathon in December, wahoo! I lost my way this year. I took some time off this summer to find it again and to think hard about what I want for my life and my family and for this business

that I have poured my heart and soul into for the past 8 years. I cannot thank Jenny and Betty, our coaches at Living Well Dallas enough. They were a big part of helping us get clear, get healthy and move forward with our lives in the direction we wanted to go.

I started this business when my

kids were 3 and 1. I wanted to have a job where I could create my own schedule, be with my kids more, not have them in day care of after school care full time, be a PTA mom and volunteer. My husband and I were committed to flexibility! Over the 8 years as my business grew, the structure changed and I worked harder with less flexibility. I watched staff come and go, some working as hard as I did and caring as much as I did, others that moved on to new and bigger adventures. But I am the captain of this boat and if I lose my

way, then so does my staff. It's time for me to take the helm again and to do that, I have to make it fun again. I had this idea of what I thought my business had to be, was supposed to be, could be but I lost sight of the pieces that I loved most about building a business: networking, talking to people and creating lots of amazing content full of great resources, interesting information and fun events for families. So, it is with both sadness and trepidation that I say this issue is the last issue of North Texas Kids that I will print. Now, I am a huge reader, I love magazines, books, I love print! At the same time, the print piece is what's causing all the stress right now and stopping me from being as creative as I want to with this great product that is North Texas Kids. So here's our plan and we hope you will join us! We are turning North Texas Kids into an online, interactive magazine. It will not be a blog or just a website, we've got both of those already. It will still be a magazine format that you can read online, download and print out or we'll even mail you a copy on a CD. What's new and exciting is that every issue will include video embedded in the actual magazine, every ad and web address will be
