THE WEIRS TIMES’ 2010 HOLIDAY WISHBOOK — Published Thursday, December 2, 2010
Wishbook 19 DOWNTOWN LACONIA'S HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE Still reeling from the 2009 event, everyone involved with the Holiday Parade on November 28th, are jumping
for joy with what they pulled together for 2010. As of press deadline, there were three bands scheduled to be playing pre-parade on Main and Pleasant Streets with live entertainment, face painters and food vendors. Te parade itself already had 69 units registered, just 3 short of last year, with a flurry of last minute registrations expected the day aſter Tanksgiving. So, now we move along to Holiday Open House throughout the Downtown Laconia area on Sunday, December
5th, with hours starting as early as 10 a.m. and ranging to as late as 4 p.m. Merchants and restaurants will be open, offering refreshments to shoppers, and special deals within the stores. Over on Pleasant St., More 2 Luv will be offering up snacks and featuring 15% off their already reasonable prices; Te Downtown Deli will be
serving up wonderful bagels, lunch items & hot beverages – there might even be some Pickers on the premises. Round the corner on Main Street, Hackett & Hill will have a wonderful selection of pearls specially priced along with a showcase of Estate Jewelry marked 40% off. Just Stuff Consignments will have cider and snacks, Dave will be rocking it at Greenlaw's, and the folks at All My Life Jewelers will have special
sales along with champagne and Toot Sweet Cupcakes by Renee of the Gourmet Food Barn to tempt your palate. LaBelle's and Happy Jack's will both be open, along with Wild Women's Studio, all with their unique offerings and tasty treats, Larry Frates will have both his studio and gallery open for browsing and demonstrations, Whittemore's has a gorgeous array of floral and pine
decorations on hand; Laconia Village Bakery, Awakenings, Hector's and the Brickfront would love to share some time with you, as would Sunflower Natural Foods which will be serving natural and organic refreshments. Just off the Downtown loop, Te Belknap Mill will be open from 10-2 as they host the Opechee Garden Club's
Open house, and Lakes Region Party & Giſt on Court Street will be offering up gourmet food samples. Trough the generous cooperation of local artists, pay particular attention to the window decorations in some
“temporarily” vacant storefronts – they are vibrant with a variety of artwork and displays, making the Downtown sparkle right through the Holiday season. Next on the schedule is “Christmas in the Village”, scheduled for December 10th. Laconia Main Street
businesses and the Evangelical Baptist Church are teaming up to offer a memorable evening from 6-9 p.m. Browse and shop, sing your favorite Christmas songs, enjoy readings and strolling carolers along with hot apple cider and roasted chestnuts. Two identical services of music and drama will be hosted at EBC at 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. Shop, snack, and enjoy the hospitality of a small New England town.
