THE WEIRS TIMES’ 2010 HOLIDAY WISHBOOK — Published Thursday, December 2, 2010

Remember to Patronize Your Independently Owned Businesses This Holiday Season! When sugarplums start dancing in the heads of your loved ones, jot down their Wish List items, and take them with you as

you do your Holiday shopping. But before you pull out of the driveway and automatically head to the malls or the big box stores, your local BIBA businesses hope you’ll take a moment to analyze those “must haves”.

If you can select 10% or more of those items and determine that you will purchase them at locally owned independent www.bibanh.orginfo@bibanh.org

businesses, you will be doing much more than acquiring a gift to wrap. BIBA (Belknap Independent Business Alliance) is a local organization based on the national chapter, AMIBA, which was formed to educate and encourage consumers to make a larger percentage of their purchases at businesses in their own hometowns that are not part of big chains.

The more purchases that are made at the “Big Guys”, the more money flows out of our own communities. We can all help to plug that leak by just simply thinking about our

purchases a little more carefully. For every $100 spent in a chain store, only $13 remains in the community, opposed to $45 of every $100 spent at hometown businesses. Your local BIBA members support each other by buying goods and services from other members, and ask that you do the same. These are our neighbors who we approach

day after day for contributions, fundraiser donations, support for athletic teams, charity auctions, program advertising, while many of them are already volunteering their time to civic and non-profit organizations.

BIBA members wish you the happiest of holiday seasons, and hope to see many of you in the coming weeks. For more information on the organization, please visit the website, www.bibanh.org. The membership list alone will knock your socks off!!

Let us host your Holiday Gathering, small or large. Stop in for a relaxing meal or beverage when out

shopping and pick Giſt Certificates for the “hard to buy for” and the Hector’s devotees!
