Spicerhaart has appointed an experienced and influential figure from the financial services sector as
its non-executive Chairman. John Spence OBE, 59, will lead the company through a period of expansion and develop its longterm strategic thinking, supporting the board to achieve their goals. John has held many senior positions in Lloyds TSB over a 30-year career including MD of Business Banking and CEO of Lloyds TSB Scotland. He has direct experience of managing large- scale distribution and sales operations and risk and audit issues. Since retiring from banking in 2005 he has held various directorships and is a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex. He said, “I’m excited by the opportunity to work in this owner-led business with an ambitious management team.” Spicerhaart CEO Paul Smith said
John’s expertise would help drive the company forward. “We are very honoured that such an influential person in the financial services sector wishes to join us. John will help us with our strategic aim to expand our businesses, through organic growth and acquisition.”
CounTRywIde welCome mARgAReT longden Margaret Longden has been appointed as the new Co-Managing Director of
Countrywide Residential Lettings. Margaret will join John Hards to help lead the business through its biggest period of expansion to date, with more than 150 offices expected to open over the next 18 months.
Nick Dunning, Commercial Director at Countrywide, said, “We’re delighted to have Margaret on board and feel her dynamic and motivational leadership style will be a huge asset to the team. The

next 12 months will be key as we continue to expand our lettings presence to generate annualised lettings revenue in excess of £100 million across our 1,300 offices.” Margaret will oversee the company’s expansion in the North and Midlands, while John Hards will manage branches in London and the South. Margaret joins Countrywide after a long career in corporate finance and acquisitions. She first became involved in estate agency after joining the Connells Group on secondment from the Skipton Building Society to co-ordinate the acquisition of Sequence (UK) Limited. In 2004 she became Divisional MD for the lettings division of Sequence. Margaret said, “I’m thrilled to be joining Countrywide during such an exciting time for the business. The pace of change and expansion is exciting and I’m looking forward to working alongside John Hards as we embark on an exciting new chapter for Countrywide.”

north regional presence. Richard Moss has been
promoted to Director with overall responsibility for driving national strategy for the ‘Parks’ division. Richard, who joined after Colliers’ acquisition of Paul & Co four years ago, will also handle high value caravan park sales across the north of England and Scotland. Jonathan McGrael, Matthew Gillson, Heather Blenkinship and Olivia Hughes are appointed to strengthen the agency proposition and Richard Allison has been promoted to senior support in research. Jon’s appointment comes at a time when Dunlop Heywood takes on new instructions including Newcastle International Airport, Retail Property Investments Ltd and Craegmoor Healthcare Group. Jon qualified as a chartered
surveyor in 2001 and joins Dunlop Heywood from Barry Crux & Co in York where he was responsible for all surveying instructions. 1995, Peter was recruited as Area Director of Townends estate agents, part of the Badger Holdings Group and has held a number of senior level roles which have included responsibility for central business functions including sales, lettings and financial services. In January 2009, Peter was appointed Group Operations Director tasked, amongst other things, with growing the revenue contribution made by the group’s non-core businesses and the implementation and development of a customer-focused marketing and call centre.
