Celebrity Grand Marshal Radclyffe

Len Barot has had a lifelong passion for the importance of lesbian-themed literature in the LGBT community and brings more than 20 years experience in both writing and publishing to Bold Strokes Books (BSB). As an author writing under the nom de plume “Radclyff e,” she has published over 25 novels and anthologies. With her unique perspective as both author and publisher, she provides a forum to support the growth of each author’s career while producing quality works to enrich the body of lesbian fi ction. She states: “I believe that publishing is about building long-term relationships and establishing careers through a combination of quality produc- tion, aggressive marketing, and wide-scale distribution. I also believe it is about aiding excellent authors to improve their craft through eff ective, targeted editing in an environment of mutual respect and rapport. I am an author, and I know how much more it takes to ‘make a book’ than just placing a cover on a manuscript. Done with respect and love for the craft, creating a book is a never-ending joy. My mission is to provide that experi- ence to every author at Bold Strokes Books.”

She is a member of Romance Writers of America, the Publishing Triangle, and the Indepen- dent Book Publishers Association. As an author, she has received the Alice B. Readers Award twice, once for lifetime achievement, The Lambda Literary Award in both romance and erot- ica, and multiple Golden Crown Literary Society Awards. She has organized and sponsored the Palm Springs Lesbian Book Festival in Palm Springs for the past three years in conjunction with Casitas Laquita Resort.

Radclyff e is a retired surgeon and full time author-publisher and winner of two Lammy awards. She has over thirty lesbian novels and anthologies in print, including the Lambda Literary Award winners Erotic Interludes 2 with Stacia Seaman and the romance, Distant Shores, Silent Thunder, as well as the Lambda Literary Award Mystery Finalist, Justice Served and Romance Finalists Turn Back Time and When Dreams Tremble. Her work includes romance, erotica, intrigue and suspense. Strong women in love populate her imagination and her fi c- tion. She is also the recipient of the 2003 and 2004 Alice B. Readers’ award for her body of work and the president of Bold Strokes Books, one of the world’s largest independent LGBTQ publishing companies.

Says Radclyff e, “I began reading lesbian fi ction at the age of twelve when I found a copy of Ann Bannon’s Beebo Brinker. That book and others like it convinced me that I was not alone, that there were other women who felt like I did. Our literature provides support and validation, and very often, a lifeline for members of our com- munity throughout the world. I am proud and honored to be able to publish the many fi ne authors at Bold Strokes Books and to contribute in some small way to the words that celebrate our lives. I live with my partner, Lee and our family of dogs, in the country in upstate New York and in Provincetown, Mass. I am a member of the Lambda Literary Foundation, Romance Writers of America, Publishing Triangle, and Publisher’s Marketing Association (PMA).”

Bold Strokes Books off ers a diverse collection of LesbianGayBiTransQueer general and genre fi ction. BSB genre fi ction includes romance, action, adventure, mystery/intrigue, speculative fi ction (sci-fi /fantasy/horror), and erotica. BSB Victory (Lesbian) and Liberty (GBT) Editions include literary and popular fi ction as well as non-fi c- tion that explore the LGBT experience in its many forms (contemporary, historical, saga) while telling strong human stories with universal themes.
