In addition to Ms. Gunter’s critical work, she helps promote volunteerism within Intel and the wider Oregon community. She is very active in community mentoring and promoting opportunities for underrepresented groups in STEM fields. She taught the PBS design squad curriculum and led the Computer Clubhouse program within a community police athletic league. Intel’s Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe out-of-school learning environment where young people from underserved communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology.

Ms. Gunter also served as president of the Oregon chapter of the Network of Intel African Americans Leadership Confer- ence, and as a United Way Ambassador. She did such a good job in that role she was asked to become a member of the Oregon Leadership Team, a group of employees who have taken a more active role in the strategy, management and planning of the Community Giving Campaign in Oregon. The team partners with their respective business group lead- ers and ambassadors to raise awareness and increase partici- pation in the giving campaign.
